spicedogs: (Betty Boop I Love You)

I must confess to you all, I am IN LOVE with my new Nikon D-70 camera that I bought from [livejournal.com profile] greyrider . I bought it from her a few months ago. The first few days after I received the camera and all the paraphernalia that came with it, I was intimidated by it. I wouldn't even open the case it came in. Slowly, I got accustomed to its presence and I started playing around with it. My experience at first was very much like the first time I opened my newly acquired Photoshop 2.0 software. I opened it and looked at it and said, “Do something.” I certainly didn’t know how to maneuver the software. Well, likewise, I certainly didn’t know how to maneuver this camera. But I am learning, and the photos that are emerging are beautiful.

Heck, there’s so much to learn about the camera and how to use it. I look at the camera and my thoughts scream at it, “Is there a school out there that can teach me how to use you?”

I take a deep breath. “Give it time,” a small voice in my head soothingly whispers to me, “give it time. Look where you are with Photoshop. Give it time.” And I will give it time. Till then, here’s what I have produced so far:Till then, here’s what I have produced so far: )

Tomorrow is Thursday and The Office is back on. I can hardly wait.  So here's my TV watching schedule:

Monday : Two and a half men. (I watched this week's 6th season pilot. Hilarious. The show is still funny.)

Tuesday:
Free to do whatever (I probably will watch one of the shows that I recorded.)

Wednesday: Pushing Daisies.

Thursday:  My Name Is Earl, The Office, and recording Grey's Anatomy. I will only watch the episodes that Bernadette Peters is in. I hope that they don't make her a regular. I really don't like GA anymore.

Friday: Wife Swap, Supper Nanny, and 20/20 (I will watch those only if I don't have anything better things to do.)

Saturday: Free to do whatever.

Sunday: Desperate Housewives.

Shows that I record and watch at my leisure: Real Time with Bill Mahr.

Of course, Lost will be in the lineup when it comes back on the air in February and I hope that Samantha Who? will be on the air soon. (I hope that Christina Applegate's illness won't prevent the show from airing.)

So, here we go again with the boring healthy food:

This time I have 10 grapes and 10 green olives. I added scallops for my protein. I was going to take 2, but in honor of  [profile] katje0711, I took 4. At least, that's a number. LOL

I know that at least one of my friends has trouble commenting to my posts. Every time she clicks through her friends page to leave a comment, all she is given is the option to read comments, but not leave a comment on the post.

Is anybody else having the same problem? Please help me out by leaving comments to test it out.

Thanks.

Under the blanket

Compare his size to the man's shoe

I received these pictures from one of my rescue lists. It is an albino whitetail deer. The mother left him on the road. I guess she knew that living with her, either she, he, or both would have died. This lovely rescuer (from Rhineland, WI) found him, fed him, and gave him to a rehab farm, where he will live out his life. This type of albino deer is very rare. It occurs one in a million births. The man's shoe is next to the deer to show us how small this creature was.

Here's the note that came with the pictures:

A very eventful day around here... A once in many lifetimes experience! I saw this lil' feller run out in front of a car—thought it was a lost baby goat. Stopped to get it, and WOW!! A real Albino Whitetail Deer. Just hours old, but doing fine. No Momma deer around. Another car nearly hit it in front of me.

Well, he is the neatest thing any of us ever saw. And such a "freak of nature", that only 1 in more than a million is even born. He took his bottle of food, followed us around the house, and is doing great. So, we called the Zoo & Fossil Rim, who were both interested. But we're going to send him to a Rehab farm. Maybe he will make it in captivity somewhere and be appreciated. So rare... Sure wanted to keep him tho. But, not the thing to do. And not LEGAL either. Here are a couple of pictures to show you. He was snow white, pink eyes, ears, nose and hooves. Kids called him POWDER. He was SO small. That is my shoe lying beside him... WOW...how cool is that??

A normal whitetail deer looks like this:

A baby

An adult

Today, Brian, I, and my mother went with Abbie and Jack to a radiologists to view 4-D ultrasound scans of Meghan Elizabeth in order to meet with her face to face. But true to the Baker family's ways, she was stubborn and refused to let her face show. I got to see a bit. And the moment I saw that beautiful face, I fell in love with her. Of course, did anybody expect otherwise? She is my first grandchild, my long-awaited granddaughter.

We got to see her gender. She was not shy about that. But she was sleeping; and no matter what we did, she refused to wake up. Jack played classical music  and rock-and-roll on his iPhone, put it on Abbie's belly to enable Meghan to hear it, and she still refused to wake up. She has an interesting habit of sleeping with her hands up on the air, above her head,  and hold her toes at the same time. It's amazing what modern technology is achieving. I am able to see this new person before she comes out to the world.

As Meghan was not cooperating, the radiologists rescheduled the procedure for this coming Wednesday. I hope that she cooperates. I'd love to share the pictures with my flist.

PS.: The link shows a representation of what we actually saw. These pictures are not of Meghan. As I said earlier, since her face was not very visible, the radiologists wants to give us another chance before pictures and videos are taken.
