The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other.

So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Or something completely random. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you!

spicedogs: (Hahahaha)

I found this on the Web...it's kinda funny!

Take your time and see if you can read each line aloud without a mistake. The average person can't.

This is this cat
This is is cat
This is how cat
This is to cate
This is keep cat
This is a cat
This is retard cat
This is busy cat
This is for cat
This is forty cat
This is seconds cat

Now go back and read the THIRD word in each line from the top down. Isn't that FUNNY!?

Best Christmas Present when I Was a Child
I don't really remember. I was horribly traumatized when was 5, because I came to realize that Santa or Jesus (as my mother told me) was not who gave me the actual presents. I really liked Christmas, but the magic was gone till I was an adult. I should have been grateful for what I got, but I was too young to comprehend what happened to our family. I had asked for doll furniture from Jesus. (Santa gave his presents on December 6, on St. Nick's day, and it was a toy meat grinder for my toy kitchen.) My dad lost his job on December 13. To preserve the money, my mom returned the furniture she bought and made me a whole set from wood she found around the house and covered it with beautiful scrap material. My mom is a real artist when it comes to crafts and materials. (She used to be a haute couture seamstress and worked for very famous designers.) The furniture looked as good as the one I was eyeing in the stores. But I recognized the material. I knew that it was one of the scrap materials she brought home from work. I took a hammer and broke the furniture to pieces. I was upset that they had lied to me. I would have preferred that they told me who really brought the gifts on St. Nick's day and Christmas Eve. From then on, I knew who gave the toys, but the hurt of finding out the lie was deeply ingrained in my heart. By the way, my children always knew the truth, but were told never to reveal the truth to the other children. I think that they kept the secret for a long time. We shall find out if [livejournal.com profile] miss_sophia  answers this entry.

Best Christmas Present as an Adult
On a similar vein, I was 19 when my dad had his first heart attack. It was a massive attack, and, back in those days, you were not allowed to go back to work for a long time. My dad was out of work for 6 months. We had just bought a new house, so money was tight. Mom had to stay home from work to take care of him. I was working and going to school full time. Every penny I made went to my parents. We survived on my dad's disability check and my paycheck. Hence, I knew that we were not going to have a big Christmas. We talked about just eating dinner and counting our blessings that dad was alive, we were together, and the mortgage was paid for.  Mom, however, managed to scrape up enough money to buy me a jewelry box. I was now mature enough to understand that the cheap jewelry box was worth a million. I still have it. I will never throw it out. When I die, [livejournal.com profile] miss_sophia  will receive it. I don’t think that she ever was told about this story. So honey, I apologize that you have to hear it so publicly.

"The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed."
1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them ;-)

Now, this is a cool meme:

Comment on this post and I will choose seven interests from your profile. You will then explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so that others can play along.

[personal profile] angelcure  picked my interests for me. I also saw this meme in [profile] greyrider's journal.

1. Animal Rescue

The first time I ever rescued an animal, I was living in Pittsburgh, Pa. My husband and I were both students and we heard the pitiful cry of a kitten down in a ravine. We took him home despite the fact that we were not allowed to keep animals in our apt. We hid the kitty for a few weeks. We named him Socrates. (Hubby was a PhD candidate in philosophy.) Eventually we found him a home. We became great friends with the couple who adopted him, and we were able to see Socrates (now renamed B.Bunk) at least once a week. A month after we gave Socrates up, we found another kitty. She was a beautiful calico and had one extra toe in every paw. She went to my friend’s aunt’s home. We named her Big Feet. When she went to her new home, she was renamed Misty.

A year later, we found a basset hound. He stunk to high heaven and we named him Odorous. We found his owners and found out that his name was Hubert. I am now involved with Basset Hound rescue. Animals need to be loved, but many are discarded, abused, or both. It hurts me a lot to know that there are so many animals in need, but I am just one person. I just hope that my work makes a difference. At least it does to my animals who came to live with me because I found them or I adopted them.

2. Arrogant Worms

I love to laugh. The Arrogant Worms make me laugh all the time I listen to them. And l listen to them a lot. They are three men who hail from Ontario, Canada. It is my mission to introduce them to as many people as I can. Unfortunately, they never come to do any shows in my neck of the woods. One day, I will go to theirs. Or, better yet, may be they will in [profile] katje0711's neck of the woods and I’ll go visit her for sure. *winks to Kat*

3. Bassetville

 [info]bassetville

is the Brian Prindivlle’s journal. Brian and I belong to the same Basset Hound Rescue. He is a great cartoonist. And his dog Frances looks just like my late-Zack. What is not to like about him?

4. Hummel

I love Hummel figurines. They are made of porcelain and the originals are from Germany. I just cannot afford them, but can appreciate them from afar.

5. Mutts

As much as I love basset hounds, there is a special place in my heart for mutts (mixed breeds).  Mutts are such individuals and many are extremely smart. Cocoa and Cinnamon are fine examples of mutts.

6. Michael Emerson

I fell in love with this actor the minute I heard him cry out “Help me. Somebody help me,” in the episode “One of Them” of LOST. The more I saw him in other venues besides LOST, the more I realized that this man is extremely talented, very cute, and intelligent. I created a fansite for him, which has a lot of followers. I have had the pleasure to correspond with this humble man. What else can I say about him? He is almos perfect.

7. The View

I like this talk show because Joy Behar is on. Besides Barbara Walters (the originator), she is the longest member of the show (11 years). She is a very funny comedienne. Did I say that I love to laugh?

Stolen from [profile] benobsessed and [profile] galileah_galile. I generally don't like memes, but this one is cute.

Use the first letter of your name to answer each of the following questions. They have to be real places, names &/or objects, but nothing made up! Try to use different answers if the person you got this from has the same first initial. You can't use your name for the boy/girl name question. Have fun with it!

1. FOUR LETTER WORD: Easy
2. BOY NAME: Ethan
3. GIRL NAME: Ellen
4. OCCUPATION: Electrician
5. A COLOUR: Emerald
