Michael Emerson at the Emmys

Some people in my forum expressed that Michael Emerson seemed a bit upset at the Emmys. Perhaps he felt that the Emmy should have been his. Far from it! Here's a good possibility for Michael's misty eyes.

Terry hears that his name is called as the winner. Carrie Preston is overjoyed. Lori O'Quinn kisses her man.

Michael is happy as anything for his friend Terry. Look at Michael's smile.

Terry gets up to get his award and make his speech.

Michael is smiling. He does not look upset.

"...then I think about my cast- and crewmates, represented here by the great and glorious, Mr. Michael Emerson and …"  (Michael is listening to the speech. It hasn't hit him yet that Terry is actually praising him.)

Terry's words just hit him. He is proud and choked up by the admiration just bestowed on him.

He smiles back at Terry.

He is basking on the applause that is given to him, thanks to Terry.

No,  the man was not upset. He was choked up. Terry O'Quinn, you just went up a number of notches in my book.

I think what Terry said was wonderful. He is a great guy who obviously thinks a lot of Michael. I think Michael was actually happier for Terry to win it than he would be if he'd won it himself- that's just what a lovely man he is

Yay! I was so glad one of the took it. I wanted both of them to win, but dual Emmy Award don't exist. lol
I found another HD cap at www.svfan.com, we can never have too many right? And we can see Anna Paquin smiling at the moment ( I think that's her) and it's a better cap of Carrie too. ;)

Yes, I did know that their name was Quinn. He changed it for theatrical purposes. LOL>

Did Lori kiss his forehead and he was wiping it? Or maybe he wiped some sweat off. Or it was a private sign to someone he knew.

Look how surprised Carrie is. She's laughing. I don't think either of them expected to win and they were surprised and happy when one of them did. Carrie is not consoling Michael for losing. They are both happy. No doubt it sunk in then that he had lost but he was still happy for Terry.

I think that second picture of Michael is precious. To me it says "Terry you didn't have to say that and you know I wouldn't want you to say it." He's kind of embarrassed but pleased Terry has done this. Then he realizes the camera is on him and he'd better get that expression off his face and he kinds of pastes an open smile on his face for the camera but then it's immediately followed by the real closed mouth smile he had before. I can see him elbowing Terry afterwards to say thanks and you didn't have to do that. Terry would then say yes I did. It would be left at that.

What Terry said must have soothed the sting Michael felt just then. Terry knew how he felt the year before so he knew how Michael must feel. But Terry is smart. He did more than recognize Michael-he made them put the camera on Michael. When he physically pointed him out like that he knew the camera would fly to Michael's face. Otherwise the home audience would have never seen him during the ceremony. I can imagine people thinking -is that the guy who plays Ben? Doesn't look like him. When you compare Michael and Ben you can see how good an actor he is.

Michael has this happy but embarrassed look on his face in that second shot of him. It is something that is rarely seen in Hollywood. Most present this pleasant facade. They assume the camera is on them. They want it on them. Expect it. Michael is kind of a quiet guy. Success came late in life. As Michael so astutely said himself -his personality was already formed when it did. Can't wait to see what Terry has to say about this on the Fuselage. I'm sure there will be some Michael comments. Maybe I should post something and ask him to pass it along to Michael.

You know I would love the character of Ben but I wouldn't belong to these boards if I didn't like the person behind it. Nothing turns me off faster than an overinflated ego. I prefer overinflated other things (runs off to the bookclub).

That was a beautiful essay. I am thinking of taking all of our posts in the forum, here (if you know of other places as well, let me know) and send it to him. I want to exclude the posts that mention body worship. I just want him to read how his fans are so proud of him. Maybe Kat kat0711 could do the same for Terry.
