Steve Irwin is gone. Killed by the barb of a docile stingray. A stingray who somehow got scared and defended itself by piercing the Crocodile Hunter's heart. The world lost a great conservationist. My condolences to his wife, daughter, son, and family. We are all mourning his passing. Crickey.

I hear ya. I still cannot believe our beloved Steve is gone. I am right now watching the TV GUIDE channel Salute to the Crocodile Hunter special and I CANNOT STOP CRYING....makes me soo sad to even see him on tv now that I know he's gone and not coming back. :(:(:(
Steve is my hero, my icon, someone I have looked up to for years and the pain of knowing he's gone still stabs me in the heart. Its nice to know that I'm far from the only one who feels this way.

I know what you mean. It's devastating. I keep thinking that if I feel this hole, what do his family feel? It must be absolutely horrible.

Oh, yeah, I heard about this. I was online at 3 am when it popped up on Yahoo news, I FROZE! I didn't think anyone knew about it, so I started posting it on forums; we're all still mourning. When I got to uni, the professors managed to bring it up during class, and the class all shared many moments of silence. I'm gonna miss his unrelenting enthusiasm. We need more people like him. Jeff Corin could learn a thing or to about him.

I agree with you there, Matt, Jeff Corin needs to be a bit more enthusiastic.

Gosh, I'm sure going to miss The Croc Hunter. Animal Planet had a six-hour tribute to him today. I recorded it and watch some of it. Did you know that he actually saved someone's life at sea? This person was washed ashore in an island, and Steve saved him. What a great humanitarian.
