I usually don't get so excited about the improvements that LiveJournal makes, but the latest announcement just sent me to Seventh Heaven.

It's Here! LiveJournal App for iPhone The LiveJournal.app is available in the App Store on iTunes. Now you can use your iPhone or iPod touch to keep up with LiveJournal when you're on the go. Post entries to journals and communities, select userpics and security settings for individual posts, upload photos, use familiar LJ formatting commands like <lj-cut> and <lj user>, and more. Read the FAQ here. And be sure to check out cosysoftware_en, the Cosy Software developer community, to give feedback and get news about upcoming features.

As an iPhone owner, I am very grateful for this app.


 

Additional LJ news


For those of you who are contemplating of becoming lifetime members of LJ (*winks at miss_sophia *), here is the scoop:

Permanent Account Sale and A La Carte Userpics Update So, we said we would know the details about the a la carte userpics and Permanent Account sale by October, but due to various product priorities being juggled in the last month, we have to delay that announcement until November 6. We're sorry for the six-day delay, but rest assured that we're working furiously to get it all lined up because we know it's important to you.

Furthermore, has anyone noticed that your tag lists is now showing every time you are composing a new entry? I think that this is an awesome feature.


Also, I took the plunge and decided to be one of the Beta testers for this new feature. So far, I like the improvements.

Account Settings Page In our neverending quest to make LiveJournal a more friendly place to visit, we are introducing a new Account Settings page. We took all the various "settings" scattered and hidden throughout LJ and exposed them to the light. This project is in phase one, so it's only in beta for now. Go to lj_design to read more about the new settings page and find out how to test it. In phase two we'll take all of your comments, discuss them internally and on lj_design, then incorporate the discussion into our thinking and put the Account Settings page up again in what we hope will be an even easier-to-use design. And while you're over at lj_design, take a look at the revamped Profile Page beta. We're really looking forward to hearing what you have to say.

Now, if only they'd improve the problems we encounter when working in rich-text mode.

That LJ app looks so cool. How much does it cost?

When they fix the rich-text bugs I'd be much happier. Especially the fact that spell check doesn't work

I eschew Rich Text option. It causes more problems than it's worth! The HTML codes you can use w/ LJ are very simple to learn, and work better.

I swear, 9 out of 10 posts I reject in my comms, it's due to people screwing up via the Rich Text editor

I don't see that bar with the camera and scissors and all that in my livejournal.app. I didn't type anything into a post yet, though, so maybe that's what I need to do for it to appear? Also, the app would be much better if it would allow you to view all comments to your posts and be able to reply to them. The only thing remotely close to that that you can do right now is view messages in your Inbox and reply to them, but those aren't comments to your posts. So I still need to go into Safari if I want to reply to comments on my own entries and to comment on entries on my flist.

Let me know when you hear more about the permanent accounts and the a la carte icons! I am nowhere near full with my icon space, but that's just because I haven't finished revamping yet. I'm sure I'll run out of space soon enough!
