Evangeline Lilly Is Beginning to Piss Me OFF

Ok, Evie is beginning to piss me off. She was my first Whiny Award Winner, and it looks as if she wants to keep it for life. The woman refused to stay and talk to the reporters after a packed-panel conference held in Pasadena, California.. The other actors who were present  with her were gracious enough to stay and answer questions. Some even stayed for lunch. She was there to represent LOST and to talk to the reporters. It is obvious that she wants the money, but not the consequence that comes with her celebrity status. Read on for the entire story.

'Lost' star press-shy at critics tour By BILL BRIOUX -- Toronto Sun       ENA, Calif. -- Evangeline Lilly couldn't wait to get lost after yesterday's Lost session. The Alberta-native, who hasn't been back to press tour since the series launched in 2004, was one of 14 Lost stars and producers at yesterday's packed press conference. As soon as it was over, she bolted from the stage like her house was on fire (again), blowing past a gaggle of panting Canuck critics dying to get the latest dish from the diva. It's not like she didn't have anything to talk about. Just last month, the home Lilly rented in Hawaii -- where the ABC drama is based -- burned to the ground. Fortunately, the 27-year-old was not home at the time. Was this the work of "The Others"? Like so much on Lost, there were no answers. Generally after sessions, critics approach the stage and scrum with actors and producers to get quotes for their individual markets. Lilly simply ditched, striding past a reporter from Vancouver who had tried to get in a quick question and fleeing the hotel through a side door. Most of the other cast members hung around; some even joined critics later for lunch. During the session, she did answer a couple of questions. Her combative character, Kate, has been a big part of this season's first six-episode storyline. Held captive (along with Sawyer, played by Josh Holloway) by The Others, Kate got sprung when Jack (Matthew Fox) worked a deal to send them back to the island; now it may be Kate's turn to rescue Jack. Lilly said it was actually scary to be out of her cage. "Leaving that safety zone is terrifying professionally," she said. There were several members of the large ensemble she hadn't seen in ages. "It's not like on Grey's Anatomy where you pass each other in the hall every episode." She said she had no idea who Kate would eventually hook up with -- Sawyer or Jack. "Who do you want me to end up with?" she asked a critic. "Whatever serves the story." There have been reports that Lilly is uncomfortable with her sudden fame. Before Lost, she was an unknown, with just a couple of dating infomercials to her credit. Asked to comment on Lilly after the session, executive producer and director Jack Bender praised the actress. "Evie really is one of those people who has a gift," he said. "From the very first episode, she had an uncanny instinct for acting in moments that I marvel at." "Has she gotten to trust herself more? No question. Has her life changed? Yes, that's all true. Inherently, as a person, she hasn't changed." We'll take your word for it, Jack.

I really don't blame her at all. It's very nerve wracking to face the press. I've spoken to reporters before. Some people are just more camera shy than others.

You can defend her all you want. She has been whining for a long time now. And, yes, I know that reporters tend to distort the fact, but she has been complaining about being famous and being recognized, etc. Her behavior pisses me off.

Nope, I didn't think that you were argumentative. I know that I am being harsh, but Ms. Lilly has been whining about the pitfalls of being famous. I just think that once you agree to be a public figure, you should accept the bad that comes with it.

FYI - According to one critic's blog of the event, Matthew Fox did the exact same thing. He didn't stick around either.

I don't think they are required to stay and speak to them, especially considering they had just did a big press event the day before. Perhaps they had something else they had to attend to.

I was actually thinking about that. I mean it was a public appearance event they had just attended. Sorta like a press conference itself. And, yeah, maybe they had somewhere else to be. Because I'm certainly not aware of Foxy having any issues with speaking to the press.

I can't dislike her, the press can be so hard sometimes. She's been literally stalked at times by them, and who knows what else she had to do after this.

Oh, I'm sure that her life is not pleasant at the moment. But some people know how to play it to work for them. She just does the opposite. Relax a bit around the reporters, and they will be your best allies.
