We have freedom of speech. The Republicans have not taken that away from us as of yet. They did take the 4th amendment from us: Habeas Corpus, which is our right to have protection against unreasonable searches and seizures. They now can accuse anybody for terrorism, take that person to jail or Guantanamo Bay, and we will never see that person again.
And to answer your question, not all Republicans have that view. However, the majority have espoused the religious right wingers, who believe that the Earth is only 4,000 years old and that the dinosaurs, whom they believe lived among humans, were giant reptiles that grew gigantic because they lived to 500 years as did Noah. (Sarah Palin is a firm believer in this dogma.)
Republicans are also procorporations. Hence, the rights of the workers are to be stifled as far as they are concerned.
What really gets my goat is that they want to eliminate government. And they run to be part of it at the same time.
That is terrific. I laughed just as much as listening to Palin talking about her experience with Home Land Security is based on the ability to see Russia from Alaska.
