Sorry to hear you didn't like it. It was one of my favorite episodes of Lost ever. I loved the darkness of it.
I sort of agree with you that the Alex/Danielle reunion was strange, but for different reasons. I don't think Alex suddenly loves a stranger, I think you can tell she's really confused and shocked. But I still think it could have been handled better.
I didn't think Michael Emerson was shafted at all; he had a LOT of screen time. I feel fairly certain that Sawyer (their main eye candy guy, IMO, not that that's all he is) got less screen time, and he certainly had less dialogue.
The Others are getting killed off because the Others' storyline is over. I was sad to see Tom go. Mikhail -- I'm very much hoping he's still alive.
