The only thing I've notice is that the Twin Cities have been turned into a quasi-police state. On Monday a trio of armed security people -- deputies, private security -- I couldn't tell, except that appropriately they were wearing brown shirts and walking up and down the almost empty streets in downtown Minneapolis. There are traffic cops at many of the busy intersections. Coming home tonight there was a police wagon with several police fully geared up standing around the vehicle along the road that leads into downtown St. Paul, as if they planned to head 'em off at the pass.

Of course, all the action was in St. Paul Monday, where the demonstrations have been a bit tense. For a while, I was worried the place was going to go all Chicago 1968 on everybody. But things seemed to calm down. I think a lot of agitators who go to the WTOs or G8 conferences decided to come to the RNC. They were out of hand. I mean throwing bricks through a bus window? This is helping your cause?

I can not believe McCain is really going to stick with this Palin woman. I mean almost all the attention has been on her and all the stuff that has or has not happened in her life. McCain is an almost forgotten figure. Who is it that's running for office here?

If this keeps up I see her getting sidelined so that the campaign doesn't turn out to be all about her. She was supposed to breathe life into the campaign season. That she has. But not the kind of attention people had thought. For every voice of support, there's another raising questions.
