Don't Be Stupid Like Me

Don't ever buy this product to eliminate duplicates from your iTunes:

MarkelSoft Dupe Eliminator for iTunes

I did. Now all my things that I had on iTunes (even the ones we recovered this weekend) are gone forever.

Are they still in the music folder or recycle/trash?

They are gone. They were physically deleted.

Do you know if the files were shredded or over written or just deleted? If they were just deleted a file recovery service may be able to restore some of them.

I would definitely give that program manufacturer a piece of my mind if something like that happened to me.

Wouldn't a file recovery service cost a lot of money?

It might. It depends on the service and how much they can recover. (It also depends on what the files are worth to you.)The size of the drive may make a difference too. My mom paid around $30 to get some of her writing from a corrupted disk.(she now backs it up on a flash drive) I'm sure a whole hard drive would cost more. (The services we checked out also charge by how much they can recover.)

It wouldn't hurt to do some checking around.

We are talking about 225 GB. Could you send me an e-mail about possible vendors?

Thanks.

That's a lot.
I'll have to do some checking and see if my mom has the names of the companies she contacted written down. I'll probably have some information I can e-mail you this weekend.
