'Lost' actor Daniel Dae Kim accused of DUI

After months of radio silence and good behavior, another actor from LOST is in trouble with the law: Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Jin-Soo Kwon. Does that mean that we will soon say good-bye to Jin?

Jin was a disliked character in Season 1, but fans slowly learned to love him in Season 2 and 3. The actor, who was not comfortably fluent in Korean had to say all his lines in Korean for the first two seasons and part of Season 3. As Season 3 unfolded, Jin was just learning enough English to start conversing with the other characters.

Details of his DUI arrest haven't been released yet, but police said he was arrested around 3 a.m. He was booked at the Honolulu Police station downtown, posted bail and was released at 5:05 a.m.

 See video of his release

Kim didn't say anything as he left the station. He was escorted by two police officers to a silver SUV that was waiting for him just outside the police station's receiving area.

Wearing a polo shirt, khaki shorts and his hair grown out, Kim kept his head down as he brushed past media, stepping into the front passenger's side of the SUV, which quickly whisked him away.

Other "Lost" members have had legal problems here.

Former cast members Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving on Dec. 1, 2005 when police spotted their vehicles weaving along Pali Highway.

Both pleaded guilty, and both were gone from the show by season's end.

On Sept. 2, 2006, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje ("Mr. Eko") was arrested and accused of disobeying a police officer and driving without a license.

The charges were later dropped when Akinnuoye-Agbaje provided proof that he possessed a license. His character was killed off by a smoke monster in the first half of that season.

I dont understand why they feel the need to drink and drive. Silly people.

It will be sad for the show if he gets axed, but I think they've set a precident now and I must say I do agree with them punishing this rediculous behaviour

I don't either. Although I heard rumors that Jin was to die in S. 4. So maybe, Daniel decided to "celebrate."

I guess it's goodbye, Jin!

I don't mind if people want to be jackasses if it only affects them. I honestly don't care if people get wasted or fry their brain on drugs in the comfort of their own home. When you want to be a jackass behind the wheel of a car, then I mind very much!!! Sheesh. What is wrong with people?

What is wrong with the actors of LOST? They must know that they are going to get caught if they do something stupid! And this is just stupid!

I cannot stand people who drink drive. (not trying to offend anyone here - it is just my opinion, such as it is)

I myself will never have anything at all - not even one sip if I am driving. I just don't see that there is ever an excuse or need for it. Either have a designated driver or get a taxi home! If you can't arrange that? Then stay at home and drink! It is not hard is it?

I find it especially ridiculous when actors do it. They are not short of money - they can easily arrange transport or hire a driver for a night for christ's sake!

Simple - don't drink and drive!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is something I feel very strongly about. As my friends and family know only to well.

I have had a few friends and a family member who have had 1 drink and then driven - but I refuse to get in a car if someone has had anything at all. I know they are not over the limit - but I think why risk it - it could have a small effect - even a tiny teeny one on your capability. So why risk it?

I now take the keys from friends if they have a drink and make them take a taxi with me - I am a bully when it comes to this - lol

Even if you do go out and drive somewhere and then decide to have a drink - you can leave your car where it is, take a taxi home and then collect it the next day. May cost a bit in taxis - but nobody gets hurt that way.

Sorry Edith! *ends rant*

I had a friend who got hurt once by a drunk driver so I do rant when I read about it.

I feel the same about people who speed or drive recklessly - there is never an excuse as far as I am concerned!

*sorry once again*

*runs away*

Please rant. We all must let these people know that we will not accept this type of behavior. I wish the producers of LOST would come out and just say it: "You drink and drive, you are out of the show." None of that pussyfooting about, such as, "Oh, we had this planned all along. She was going to stay for only one year. Blah, blah, blah." Call the spade a spade: If you drink and drive, behave irresponsibly, risk other people's lives with your actions, you're out.

Let them have consequences. Because they are in the limelight, they should be more aware of their behavior. I don't think that it is cool to drink and drive. It certainly is not cool if someone is killed or maimed.

As you pointed out, they have the means to get transport, be it a taxi, limo, or a designated driver. If they didn't plan on drinking, but did end up drinking, call a taxi, call your spouse or significant other, just DON'T DRIVE.

I am a member of MADD, I agree with you [livejournal.com profile] ostia2006 100%

I always thought it was too convenient when someone from Lost got caught doing something illegal and then suddenly left the show. It seems to coincidental. I agree that LOST should just come out and say it!

Thank god you agree with me - I rarely get worked up about things but this - always does!

What is MADD Edith? Is it an American association of some sort about drunk driving? I don't think I have heard of it in the UK!

MADD stands for Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

It was organized by a woman who lost her child to a drunk driver. Thanks to her arduous work, more and more people are aware of this problem. We still have quite a bit to go.

I would be even more respectful of the producers of LOST if they were to come out and say that they do not approve of this type of behavior.

Thanks - I thought it had to stand for something to do with drunk driving,

The unfortunate thing is that this sort of problem will never ever just go away. Some people are just to plain selfish or just don't give a shit.

I hope MADD continues to work hard to re educate people in their thinking and habits. Even if it is not a problem that can eradicated completely - every one person that does change their habits due to MADD - is one less potential injury or fatality.

(I would be even more respectful of the producers of LOST if they were to come out and say that they do not approve of this type of behavior.)

I completely agree - in fact many people would be more impressed with them if they did. There should be no reason why they shouldn't! Everyone should know that their actions have consequences - including celebrities.

WHAT is with the Lost crew and DUI!? I like my original Lostees! I hope he doesn't get kicked off too.

WTF!!!!
Are there no taxi cabs in ALL of Hawaii or something? There is no excuse. Really.

And not to sound all selfish, but this stuff ruins the story for me, because it makes me think that if he wasn't celebrating his death on the show, you know he's gonna die now....

He's not the only one. Kiefer Sutherland has to go to jail in December because of DUI.
People... please don't drink and drive... :/

Bah I don't understand why some people feel the urge to drink and drive! Thats so silly in my opinion.. I guess Jin will be soon out of the show! ;)
