Natasha Richardson Died after Her Skiing Accident

Natasha Richardson (45), a Tony Award-winning actress whose lineage come from bloodlines of theatre loyalty died today in a hospital in NYC, following a skiing accident on Monday north of Montreal. Her mother was Vanessa Redgrave, her father was director Tony Richardson, and her aunt was Lynn Redgrave. Ms Richardson was married to actor Liam Neeson, and the couple had two sons.

My condolences go out to her family.

Garrison Keillor's older brother, John Phillip Keillor, Jr., died after falling while ice skating. My condolences go out to him and his family on this loss.

Miriam Makeba, South African Singer, Died


 
 
Miriam Makeba who sang about Africa's struggles for independence, died on Sunday, as she was leaving the stage during her performance in Italy. According to Whoppi Goldberg of The View, Makeba died exactly as she wanted, while performing.

As a teenager, I loved Operas and folk music, and Makeba was my favorite South African performer.

Suzanne Pleshette Is Dead!

Suzanne Pleshette Dies

spleshette.jpgSuzanne Pleshette, the actress best known for playing her role as Bob Newhart's better half, has died. She was
70.

Pleshette had racked up a lot of roles in her 50-year career; her credits include Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds," "Spirited Away" and TV's "Will & Grace." The AP also says that the actress spent some time on Broadway in "The Miracle Worker."

Pleshette also played a major part in one of TV Fodder's favorite TV finales of all-time; she had a brief, but hilarious role in the finale of "Newhart."

The actress underwent treatments for lung cancer in 2006, and had claimed herself to be cancer-free. She died yesterday evening of respiratory failure.

Married three times, her last husband, "Newhart" star Tom Poston, died in 2007. She had no children. -- Rachel Cericola
