Three Mile Island Squash

Jack was preparing part of this year's Thanksgiving dinner. When he peeled and washed the yellow squash, I noticed that they resembled Three Mile Island.

He is a great storyteller. And yes, he can carry a tune, plus his voice is fair.  His singing voice improved magnificently since he married his third wife, who happens to be a symphonic violinist. (I wonder whether she gave him singing lessons.) But he is not a cabaret singer. I guess, he is trying to see how far he can push himself. And, no, I am not going to NYC for this.


  

Deadly Floods in Brazil

I am worried about one LJ friend:angelcure. She lives in Brazil near (and has family members who live in)  the area that is now being affected by deadly floods due to heavy rains. The death toll is up to 112. I hope that Angel and her family are not touched by this disaster.

( RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (CNN) -- The death toll from historic floods in southern Brazil continued to creep upward Monday, with 112 reported Mudslide in Brazildead, the state news agency said. Officials say 19 people remain missing and nearly 79,000 residents have been left homeless, according to the state-run Agencia Brasil. Many of the deaths have been caused by mudslides. The city of Ilhota in the hard-hit state of Santa Catarina has recorded 37 fatalities, the most of any municipality, Agencia Brasil said. In the city of Maximus in Luis Alves state, eight rescuers were injured over the weekend, one of them gravely, the news agency said. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said Monday that Santa Catarina will be rebuilt and become just as strong as it was.  )
