Lost Gives Michelle Rodriguez Another Shot

Look who has found herself back on Lost. Michelle Rodriguez, who famously and hastily was written off of the ABC serial not long after she was pinched in Hawaii on DUI charges, will resurface in the new season's second episode, sources confirm for TVGuide.com.

Lest you truly believe in the unbelievable, though, it should be noted that M-Rod's Ana Lucia will appear only in the one episode, possibly as part of a Hurley-centric flashback (as EW's Ausiello speculates).

Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros (who played Libby to her Ana Lucia) were arrested in Oahu on Dec. 1, 2006, on suspicion of driving their respective cars under the influence of alcohol in Oahu. Though both of their Lost characters were dispatched later in the TV season, show producers maintained that Ana Lucia was always a short-term role.

It was with great irony today that I received an email from my friend Helen right after I read that news. She is working her way through Season two. The first line of the email was "NO MORE ANA LUCIA!!! Yeay:)"

I had to bite my tongue and reply back, spoiler-free, of course.

I don't know. I mean Helen is watching Lost in a bubble, more or less--so I think this hate for Ana Lucia must be a very naturally occurring thing in fans. It isn't just a few fans that hate her who are influencing the rest of us--she really is unlikeable.

I don't know how they can not see that? I sure hope they somehow make it crucial to the plot and it isn't something random.

Oh boy - I really didn't like the character at all. Sort of wish our boy, "Henry", had managed to do away with her in the hatch.

I can't bring myself to hate Ana Lucia. I have no idea why. It's like Kate. Would love to hate Kate but can't. I've tried. It's like Kryptonite. XD

Well, before we despair of the collapse of Western civilization (or at least "Lost" ), let us remember it's just one episode, and maybe she has only a few lines, or even better it's like Libby's "return" and A-L shows up in a dream sequence and that's it.

Cynthia Watros' return was much heralded and then folks were bummed because that's all it was. Maybe we can hope for the same for M-Rod.

Wow - so much dislike for Ana Lucia in the comments. Dear Husband and I were bummed when she was killed off because we found her more interesting than Kate, plus we both liked her film, Girl Fight. Her death on the show took my dislike for Michael Dawson to a whole new level - I never thought he deserved Walt.

I'm kind of excited that she will come back again. I don't usually read spoilers, but I clicked this one.
